Title: What did you last repair??
Post by: Bambo on May 12, 2017, 05:51:04 AM
I just fixed one of my 8 tracks today...... I just got 1 I ordered (In the mail) and the pad was basically gone! (It didnt sound good @ all of course) -- I luckily had a new pad I took from another tape months ago I didnt want that is brand new so I opened the cartridge and put it in... (My first successful 8 track repair!!)

AUTHENTIC 1950s COLLECTION (rock and roll) I didnt want lose it!!

27 songs.....I think they are all 45s (Picture of a jukebox on the cartridge)

I fixed our electric shower a couple of month ago.  No water was coming out.  A bit of googling told me it was probably a faulty solenoid.  I bought the part online.  It was only £15, so worth the risk of me being wrong, over having to get someone in to fix or replace it.  Worked like a dream.

More recently, someone stood on my netbook which I had strategically placed on the floor by my chair. The screen was busted.  I went into a local tech shop, who advertised that they didn't charge for the labour, only the price if the screen.  They quoted me £100.  I bought a screen on ebay for £30 and replaced it myself, with the aid of YouTube guide.

Maybe there's some truth in the claims that us Scots are a canny lot.  I seem to be doing alright by it. :)

I last repaired one of my 8 track tapes :)

I got volume 2 of "1950s rock and roll collection" and the pad was no good so I went out to find a good pad...... I found one and last night I went about fixing it....

When I opened the cartridge the tape came off the spool a little and I thought I lost the tape. But I managed to get it wound back on the spool and into the cartridge and she plays fine :)

Now to get volume 3 of this amazing set.... Its a 4 record set,3 8 track set (Im not sure how  many cassettes or CDs in the set)

The other day I got a VHS tape in the mail I ordered (AND JUSTICE FOR ALL - 1979)

I Think the person rewound it with one of those crappy radioshack things WHICH ARE HORRIBLE.. (They slam the tape @ full speed when it gets to the start) - YA DONT EVER USE THAT GARBAGE!!!

The tape was off the take up spool so I opened the cartridge and re-attached the clear lead tape to the spool using a couple pieces of tape..... I had to put it in a different shell as the parts in the back (1 of them) came off and it wouldnt play at all........

I took an empty one and put both spools into it.... Its not working correctly for some reason (the things in back of the spools) but thankfully its working...

This is the first 1981 columbia release of this movie and its the BEST and i didnt wanna lose it,been looking for it for along time!!!

I trust its still working ok :)

I last repaired a cassette I got the other day.... It wouldnt play well,it sounded sluggish like it had gotton wet....Well first look @ the window in the cassette showed that stupid plastic sheet on both sides so I figured this was the reason......

I opened the cassette which was popped together (I easily opened it with a knife wedged in the front)

THERE WERE NO ROLLERS IN IT!!!!! -- What kind of moron put this together?? -- NO WONDER IT DIDNT PLAY WELL!!!!!!!!! (It is a 1981 album)

I just happend to have a new cassette (BLANK) that has screws so I opened it and put the tape into the new cassette and she plays fine... (DEF LEPPARD - HIGH N DRY)

Well.... The first time I played it when it got to the last song on side 1 (Bringing on the hardbreak) it was a bit sluggish and IM NOT SURE WHY.... When it played side 2 though it was fine......  On second play it was fine on both sides :) (Must have been something stuck near the end of the tape that fell out)

Boy.... NO ROLLERS!!!!!!! -- How stupid and unresponsible to make something like this AND LET IT OUT!!!!!! (Like they didnt care that it wouldnt work well)

If I have too many apps on it, it doesn’t work ok.

This morning I fixed a cassette I got......

It wouldnt play well, sounded like it got wet or was somehow being wedged in and couldnt freely move.... IT WAS HARD GETTING THIS!! -- I was tired and my eyes were hurting from overtired and I almost gave up..... The tape kept coming off the lead spool (The one on the left if looking @ side 1)

I put it into a different shell and finally got it closed w/o the tape being scrunched in the front!! (This shell has screws also thankfully (The one I took apart easily came apart with a knife wedged in the front))

I didnt wanna lose it....... Whitesnakes first album - TROUBLE (1978)

Did an upgrade to my laptop. Doubled the ram, and swapped out the old slow hd for a Samsung 860 evo 500GB

Super fast now...
