Learning the Banjo
« on: May 08, 2017, 01:04:28 AM »
I am hardly a musician but in the years since the board was last active I decided to learn the banjo (at age 72) even though I have zero music experience.  It is great fun and a lot harder for me than I expected and each time I think I am getting there my teacher gives me something harder (which of course he plays so easily).  I have been learning bluegrass for 2 and a bit years now and am trying my hand at clawhammer although I am having a lot of trouble getting a smooth repetitive action of my right hand.

Your better than me Joe!!!

I dont think I could do it buddy........ I used to play Drums when I was in 4th grade in the school band but I got tired of it and quit right before a concert! (I feel bad now, wasnt right to do that to the guy who let me in the band in the first place)

Stick with it Joeboy. I think I gave up playing guitar more times than I've picked it up. lol Actually, I'm about to start again now that I'm out to pasture. I'm doing alright with it except to missing about 50 years of practice.
